The Kudo Effect eBook Barbara Brannen Janelle Engle Christian Brannen

I've made it a habit of celebrating my employees' victories for over twenty-five years. I know it works because of the success I have had in my career. I could have never achieved what I did alone and I made sure the people responsible for helping me were rewarded. I often wondered why more leaders didn't catch people "going the extra mile" and then celebrate with them. It always made an impact not only them, but on me when I saw someone smile because they were recognized for doing something well. And it never cost a lot of money to do it.

In today's world there are a lot of disgruntled employees out there mostly because they are not recognized for doing a good job. Many of them don't feel understood or appreciated. They are unhappy and disengaged and it is costing companies millions of dollars every year. We need to change our ways of leading if we are going to survive in today's highly competitive market.

Barbara and Sherry have teamed together to produce a great story and a recognition program that helps spread the importance of recognizing people - after all we are all in the people business.

It was a pleasure to pick up a copy of The Kudo Effect and read a moving story about people who went out of their way to help others - not because they had to, because they wanted to. What surprised me though was the feeling it brought back to me - the feeling of how good I felt when I used to recognize people and how I needed to get back to doing just that.

So join me and go out and catch someone doing something worth shouting about and then tell the world - with a plaque they will cherish for years.

Kudos for touching my life and remind me why I am in business.
